A stone-age child is stolen in a raid from her first family, made a daughter then sold by her second family to star farers of mythical Earthlings. Strength of character and good fortune will take her further than human eyes can see on a cold winter's night.
Her first love suffers a similar fate but as a slave to aliens. The Centaurs will learn a rude lesson about the warriors of the First Valley Tribe and their fierceness as raiders.
At least the young lovers are both among the stars.
